Having worked on BHP’s Street Science activation at the World Science Festival in 2017, we knew we had to make a big splash when they asked us to work with them again in 2018.

Every year at World Science Festival, BHP Foundation use their ‘Street Science’ space as a way to get kids excited about STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths). It’s an interactive weekend of activities that’s educational, engaging and most importantly fun. And for the 2018 Festival we got to work with BHP to come up with the theming concept for the interactive display, produce the collateral and create an AV that really highlighted the nature and importance of water in our universe.

We came up the overarching theme and name – ‘Bodies of Water’ – which governed everything from the messaging and look of the campaign to the physical activations on the day. As the name suggests, 2018’s Street Science activation focused on how water is important, not only to the planet but to animals like us as well. We also produced the activities, created an AV and even got hands-on by working the event itself. Water is such an everyday substance that is very easy to take for granted, but by the end of the World Science Festival there is no way anyone couldn’t appreciate the power of our most precious resource.


In 2018 the number of visitors to the Bodies of Water Street Science activation increased by 53% from the previous year, which we were pretty chuffed about! It was also a great opportunity for us to indulge our hands-on creative side by making the two educational activities – the hands-on Pythagoras’ Theorem water wheel and printed-to-fold origami floating boats. Both of which really ‘floated our boat’!
