What needed to be done?
Quandamooka Yoolooburrabee Aboriginal Corporation (QYAC) runs an annual festival on Stradbroke Island and the mainland called Quandamooka Festival. The festival is about giving people the opportunity to celebrate the land, sea, people, culture and country of the Quandamooka people. We were asked to design a more culturally relevant brand look and feel and, more specifically, the new Quandamooka Festival website. Many organisations and initiatives sit under the QYAC umbrella and the brand look and feel was extremely inconsistent.
How we did it
First, we took a painting by Elder Josh Walker as our main source of inspiration. The essence of this central piece flowed through a suite of design devices we then used to design the new website and associated collateral. Using best practice UX considerations we created a site with navigation that made exploring the festival and its events seamless.
Quandamooka Festival 2019 was a huge success with the 55 well-attended events across the region. Importantly, NDT was able to unify the brand, bringing it under one visual umbrella.
