We’re never washing our hands again
When we were asked to design the logo and collateral for Cate Blanchett and Andrew Upton’s production company Dirty Films, we were the most excited we’ve felt in about 10 years (around the time the last Harry Potter book was released). Them choosing us, a little agency in Brisbane, did feel pretty magical.
What needed to be done
We had to capture the name and vibe of the company in a single amazing logo for two of the biggest names in the film industry – so no big deal. A logo that would basically become the face of the company, so it was important that we got it right.
What we did
When we thought about the name ‘Dirty Films’, the first thing that came to mind was the image of smudged fingerprints on film. It gave a sense of the classic days of cinema with a focus on the handcrafted and specialist work which summed up the ethos behind the company. As well as the design for the logo, we created the stationery suite, business cards and letterheads to go with it. Essentially, we did as much as we could get our dirty little fingers on and we’re a little bit proud of we’ve accomplished.
Need-to-know best bit
Apart from getting to work with Cate Blanchett and Andrew Upton? Getting to go to the Oscars next year. It’s not confirmed but we’re sure the invite’s in the mail. But really, it was probably getting to make such a creative and fun logo using one of our very own fingerprints. So if you think about it, Nick Did This’ fingerprints are literally all over the big screen.
