Monthly Wrap Up - July 2019

Last month was another amazing mixed bag here at Nick Did This

We launched a campaign that creates housing for those in need, hosted the mayor of Dallas, Texas and designed insane posters for comedy gigs – so, just another normal month here at NDT.

July was a total gas

NDT was at Gasworks Plaza every Saturday arvo in July with Gasworks and Chill, a cool activation bringing the precinct to life for local residents. While live chilled music played, punters enjoyed a picnic with branded baskets and blankets. Plus there were face painters, balloon artists and other cool stuff. Gasworks and Chill rolled out over four consecutive Saturdays and ran like clockwork thanks to our events guru Stu.

We can open the door on our Elevate Residential campaign

Last month we told you about our fantastic new client Elevate Residential, the people who pass on 100% of their profits to Brisbane Housing Company (BHC). In turn, BHC do what they do best and that’s finding comfortable housing for people experiencing challenging circumstances and in real need of safe and permanent shelter.

We’re proud to say we’ve done what we do best and that’s create a brand campaign for Elevate Residential, shining the spotlight on the great work they do. Phase one is an outdoor campaign with cool creative in some of Brisbane’s high-traffic areas. You may have already seen them. We love working with the Elevate team and look forward to growing their business with them.

Comedy is serious stuff

We all love a laugh but it was serious business when we designed the Livewired Comedy work for Brisbane Powerhouse. Justine did a great job creating the look and feel for the regular free Sunday arvo comedy gig. It’s all a part of our creative partnership with Brisbane Powerhouse, a like-minded soul when it comes to supporting the arts here in BrisVegas.

NDT goes the distance with CQUni

It was a logistical challenge but the result was fantastic. How do you attract the best people to join the brilliant team at CQUniversity, whether they’re an academic, admin support or an IT professional? We did it by letting the members of the CQUni team tell the story.

The Nick team collaborated with staff throughout Australia, from Perth and Karratha across to Cairns and Mackay, down to Gladstone, Bundaberg and Brisbane then on to Sydney and Melbourne. The CQUni ‘stars’ recorded themselves on their phones explaining how a career at CQUniversity changes lives. Check out the video!

Y’all had a great time Down Under

It was a gig bigger than Texas. Lisa and Stu recently hosted the mayors of Dallas and Fort Worth, who were visiting Brisbane and Sydney promoting business opportunities and tourism throughout the gateway that is Dallas Fort Worth International Airport.

Sometimes we find it hard to define exactly what we do here at NDT. This is one of those times. Long story short. Nick made some connections at DFW (that’s how cool people say Dallas Fort Worth) while doing some work for Qantas a few years ago. Y’all with me so far? Fast forward to 2019 and Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings and Fort Worth Mayor Betsy Price, supported by the DFW team, are heading down under to promote their region and needed some help co-ordinating and maximising their time here.

Who better to put together an itinerary that runs like clockwork, all delivered with professionalism, charm and good old fashioned Aussie ingenuity? Lisa and Stu went above and beyond making the experience unforgettable for our Texan guests who went home raving about our two Lone Stars.

Meet Madeleine A.K.A Mad Dog

We recently welcomed Madeleine to the team and, in true Nickster fashion, Mads is a bit of a dark horse. For starters, she’s a total petrolhead and fully obsessed with motorsport. But just when you think you’ve got her pegged, she tells you that she won every single baby show her mum entered her in and has 20-plus trophies to prove it! Then, she throws in another sidestep with the story of carving a one metre Harry Potter lightning bolt into the staircase at home when she was eight. Whoops. Sounds like you’ll fit in just fine here Mads. A big welcome.

We’re a bunch of wags

You’ve probably worked out by now that we’re dog people here at NDT, so it had our tails wagging when Chris introduced us to Homer, brother of Betty. After having beautiful Betty for almost 18 months, Chris couldn’t resist going back and bringing Homer home too. While Homer is bigger than Betty, she’s still the boss and Homer knows his place on the Nick Office Mascot chain of command.

Tim is a suit here at Nicks. By suit, at Nicks, we mean a sneaker-freak hipster with hair Zac Efron would be envious of … but he writes a pretty sharp blog too. Check it out.
